The Kuwait Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, held high-level discussions with Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, President of both the Arab Esports Federation and the Saudi Esports Federation, to explore avenues of cooperation in developing esports infrastructure, exchanging expertise, and organizing joint tournaments and events.

The discussions took place during Minister Al-Mutairi’s official reception of Prince Faisal and his accompanying delegation, attended by the president and members of the Kuwait Esports Federation. The meeting focused on strengthening regional integration and accelerating the growth of esports as a strategic youth-driven sector across the Gulf.

Al-Mutairi reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to enhancing Gulf-wide cooperation in esports, emphasizing the country’s support for initiatives that aim to develop the sector, empower young national talents, and elevate their presence at regional and international competitions. He noted that esports development represents a core pillar of the new strategy of the Public Authority for Sport, which prioritizes partnerships with local, Gulf, and international federations, the expansion of specialized infrastructure, and the hosting of major global tournaments.

According to Al-Mutairi, these efforts align with Kuwait’s broader vision to position itself as a regional sports hub capable of hosting high-caliber international events. He also praised the Arab Esports Federation for its leadership role in organizing and advancing esports across the region, highlighting the sport’s rapid growth among youth, as well as the Saudi Esports Federation’s contribution to fostering innovation and technology within the ecosystem.

Kuwait Esports Sees Tangible Progress

Separately, Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser Al Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, highlighted the significant progress of esports in Kuwait, citing the national team’s silver medal achievement at the Islamic Solidarity Games currently taking place in Saudi Arabia. Speaking during his meeting with Prince Faisal bin Bandar, Al-Nasser stressed that full support will continue to be provided to the Kuwaiti Esports Club to sustain player development and competitive excellence, in close cooperation with Saudi counterparts.

Al-Nasser also commended Saudi Arabia’s rapid advancement in esports, noting that the Kingdom has emerged as a global destination for competitive gaming. He confirmed that the coming period will witness expanded collaboration between Kuwaiti and Saudi esports institutions.

Kuwait Ready to Host Global Esports Events

For his part, Abdullah Al-Ali, President of the Kuwaiti Esports Club, affirmed Kuwait’s readiness to host major international esports tournaments, supported by strong governmental backing and a national drive to position the country as a regional sports center. He emphasized that Kuwait is preparing to organize several high-profile international sporting events in the near future.

Al-Ali welcomed Prince Faisal’s official visit, which took place at the invitation of the Kuwaiti Esports Club, describing it as highly productive. He noted that the visit provided an opportunity to showcase Kuwait’s technical and logistical capabilities, which he said fully qualify the country to host international esports championships.

The meetings underscore a growing Gulf consensus on esports as a strategic growth sector, with Kuwait and Saudi Arabia positioning collaboration as a key driver for regional leadership in competitive gaming and digital sports.
